Mr. Scott Zimmerman, M.Sc, CP-FS

Since 2000, Mr. Zimmerman has worked in food safety, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, aquaculture, and fisheries management. He has professional training in Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), Pre-Requisite Programs (cGMP/SSOP), US import/export regulation, first, second and third party audits, traceability, withdrawal, recall, and product detention. His primary focus is GFSI benchmarked certification standards and regulatory requirements for wild and aquacultured seafood.
Mr. Zimmerman earned his bachelor’s degree at University of Miami (FL) and a Masters degree in Applied Science (Aquaculture) at James Cook University in Townsville, Australia. He holds training certifications from AFDO, NFI/FDA, GAA/BAP, GLOBALG.A.P., ISO 9001:2000 and SQF. He also has achieved a Certificate of Registration with the National Environmental Health Association as a Certified Professional of Food Safety (CP-FS).
Mrs. Vanessa Gonzalez, MBA
Business and Finance Consultant
Mrs. Gonzalez holds two specialized degrees in business administration and international finance management, both from the University of Miami (FL). She brings 15 years of corporate accounting experience to our consulting firm. Mrs. Gonzalez specializes in business management strategies, identifying variability in business processes, assisting businesses reach financial targets and streamline accounting processes. She has a strong background in developing creative ideas and managing multiple detailed projects. Mrs. Gonzalez is efficient in all aspects of office administration and well versed in operating a wide variety of business IT software.
Dr. Eduardo Carbonell
Lead Instructor
Dr. Eduardo Carbonell is a graduate of the University of Oriente in Cuba. After moving to the United States in 1982, he took a job as at the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) in the Animal Industry Division as a Slaughter House Inspector. In 1989, he was promoted to Veterinarian Supervisor with USDA, and in 1992, was further promoted to Diagnostic Veterinarian Manager. In 1997, Dr. Carbonell transferred to Food Safety Division with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS), and began work as a Biological Scientist. Soon after joining FDACS, he was promoted to Biological Scientist IV. Dr. Carbonell retired after 34 years of service to USDA/FDACS, and is well recognized in the food safety community. He is currently Vice-President of US Food Safety Association Corporation, and has training from AFDO, FSPCA, and various state and federal agencies in HACCP and GMP food safety control strategies. He is the lead instructor for SQSA’s Spanish Seafood HACCP Segment 2 Courses at our office in Miami.
